The Stefanou Foundation celebrates two years of transforming families’ lives!

Friends and supporters of the Stefanou Foundation came together to celebrate our shared journey at an event at the House of Lords on 29 July 2017, hosted by Baroness Stedman-Scott (a Trustee of the Foundation at that time), by kind permission of the Lord Speaker. The attendees heard about the Foundation’s story so far from its founder and Chairman, Stelio Stefanou, before celebrating the success of its flagship programme, which has been working to transform the lives of babies, children and families affected by domestic abuse in Hertfordshire and Westminster since April 2015. Amanda McIntyre, Director of the Foundation, thanked everyone for their essential contributions to our shared journey so far and introduced the voices of service users, who gave compelling accounts of the impact of the Foundation’s work on their lives. Amanda also took the opportunity to look ahead and launch the new name for the programme - For Baby's Sake. The programme had been launched in 2015 with the working title of Healthy Relationships: Healthy Baby. The new name - For Baby's Sake - one that more accurately reflects our work and taps into the motives of the parents joining the programme and the Foundation’s aim to achieve lasting change for individuals and families. Based on social marketing research, including interviews with stakeholders and engagement with service users and potential service users, we have named the programme For Baby’s Sake, adding the preceding strap line 'Breaking the Cycle - For Baby’s Sake’. A new leaflet, case studies and briefing paper were shared, alongside a summary of the second interim report on the evaluation of For Baby’s Sake by King’s College London, which presents positive early evidence of impact of the programme. The event ended with an invitation to everyone present to continue to work with us on the next stage of our journey and join us in Breaking the CycleFor Baby’s Sake!
